Meal Plan
* important! Read all the way through
For the 2024 Ride the Fault Line tour the meal plan, instead of being included with all registrations, will once again be an optional purchase. There are a few reasons for this.
First, in the past, an issue sometimes arose with those cyclists staying in motels where the feeling was that they were paying for breakfast twice-first when they signed up for the event, and again when they reserved their motel or bed/breakfast room which included breakfast.
Second, at the Hickman, KY overnight site, motels are located about a half-hour drive away. Many cyclists do not want to be required to drive back and forth for a second round trip just to eat the meal plan supper/dinner, preferring to eat close to where they are staying.
Third, each year a small number of participants prefer not to eat a large breakfast or have special dietary needs that are difficult or impossible for us to guarantee from our independent breakfast vendors. These cyclists prefer to bring their own energy bars, fruit, gluten-free items, etc. for their morning nourishment.
With that said, we STRONGLY encourage the majority of participants to buy the offered meal plan. It includes breakfast buffets each morning, and evening meals while in Hickman, KY. While two of our three overnight communities this year have more than adequate restaurant choices, the third does not. Hickman has but one restaurant that is open in the evenings with minimal menu choices. It will be adequate for the few riders mentioned above, but does not have the capacity to serve a hundred or more people in a short period of time.
So consider this information, and then decide whether to purchase the meal plan when you register. The cost is just $150 for the week and it may be added to your registration either online or by mail.
Apparel
We are very pleased to offer our participants both an "official" Ride the Fault Line T-shirt and a jersey. We feel it is a unique design and it has proven to be very popular.
T-shirts
T-shirts are 100% pre-shrunk cotton printed on the front with the RTFL "seismogram" logo, and on the back with a map of the route. They are $10 each. An example of the shirt can be seen below. They may be ordered during registration either online or on the mail-in form. Can't decide while registering? You can ADD apparel to your existing registration until April 10! After that, you may select from a limited number of shirt sizes at check-in June 22, or add your name to the on-site post-tour order list. T-shirts ordered the week of the tour will be shipped to you by late September. An extra shipping charge of $10 will apply.
Jerseys
Jerseys are breathable, quick-drying, moisture-wicking synthetic material, with full zipper, crafted in the USA by Primal. They are 4-color printed on the front with the RTFL full seismogram and earthquake fault logo, and on the back with a map of the ride. Jerseys are $70 each. Having used other vendors previously that had their products made offshore and exhibited extreme variations in sizing, we find that Primal makes a superior product that is very true to size. So you should order the size you normally wear in any other athletic clothing or cycling jerseys. As with the T-shirts, jerseys may be ordered during registration either online or on the mail-in form. Check out the examples below. You say you couldn't decide whether or not to get one while registering? You can ADD apparel to your existing registration until April 10! After that, you'll need to put your name on the on-site post-tour order list the week of the event. If we get the minimum of 10 requests needed to place a post-tour order, yours will be shipped to you by late September. An extra shipping charge of $15 will apply. So save yourself some money, ensure you'll get one, and place your order before April 10!!
Lodging Options
For those participants who prefer not to camp either indoors or out, we offer this list of suggested motels/Bed & Breakfasts that are located nearest to the overnight sites. Past riders have found them to be more than acceptable, but RTFL is not responsible for the quality of their service or facilities. This information is provided for your convenience; you must reserve and pay for the rooms directly with the properties. Since our new format allows you to have your own personal vehicle with you each night, you are free to seek out other choices at your discretion.
